April 2, 2008, 11:00 am PT
This download is the new Release 9.0 and can be used to create a new installation of Tussman or to upgrade an existing installation of any prior version of Tussman, 6.0 or higher. In either case, you must first obtain from us a code which the program will request the first time you attempt to open it If you do not enter the correct code the program will be disabled until you obtain it. Call us at (800) 228-6589 to order the program or upgrade and obtain the code.
Downloading the Upgrade
To download the upgrade, click on the link above. Select the option to Open or Run the file, then wait for the download to complete, after which the Install Wizard will begin. Click Next and make sure you specify the correct folder where you want to install the program.
If you are creating a new installation, the default folder name is C:\TP9, but you can change that if necessary. If you will be running the program on a network, then instead of installing it on your local drive C you should install it on the network drive.
If you are installing the program as an upgrade, you must specify the same drive and folder where your existing copy of the program is located. Otherwise, you will simply be installing a second blank copy of the program. If you do not know the folder name, start up your existing copy of Tussman and depending on the version you have click on Help, then About the Tussman Program, or click on Info. The line that begins with the word Directory will indicate the current drive and directory. Copy that exactly into the Folder space in the SetupWizard.
Complete the installation by clicking Next three times, then click Install, then click Finish. You do not have to enter or change any information in those screens. After clicking Finish, the program will start up automatically and ask you for the registration code. Enter that and the Tussman main screen will come up. If you are installing it as an upgrade, check to make sure your current list of clients is there by clicking on File, Clients. This will confirm you have installed the upgrade in the correct folder.
Network Installation
If you will be running the program on a local area network, the program should be installed only once on the server, as described above (you do not actually have to be at the server; it can be installed from a workstation as long as you enter the correct drive and directory when asked by the Install Wizard). . A shortcut should then be created on the desktop of each workstation that will be using the program. The shortcut should run the tp7.exe file located in the Tussman folder on the server. Even though this is version 9, the name of the executable program file is still tp7.exe, so that if you are installing it as an upgrade the shortcuts for your existing users will still work.
Do not install the program on each workstation as that will simply create separate copies of the program on each local computer.
Program Help
Release 9 includes a completely revised on-line User Manual for the Billing, General Ledger and Calendar programs. It can be accessed from the Help menu, or by pressing the F1 function key which brings up a context-sensistive help screen for the function you are using. If you are a new user, first review the sections titled Program Overview, The Main Screen, Getting Started, and Six Steps to Painless Legal Billing. The General Ledger and Calendar have similar sections which you should review if you will be using those modules. Then use the rest of the manual as a reference guide which explains in detail the various functions. There are also step-by-step Tutorials for each module which you can use by selecting Tutorials from the Help menu.
The manual is also available in the form of a PDF file titled tp9.pdf, which is a separate download on our download page
In some cases, Internet Explorer may not allow you to access the User Manual if you are operating on a local area network You can correct this by running the Run Helpfix function from the Help menu.. If that does not resolve the problem, then run the Install Help File on Local Drive function on the Help menu. This must be done on each workstation that is experiencing the problem.
Program Update
OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
We are in the process of entering all of the client name and address info and I cannot believe how quick and easy it is. Our previous program was so time consuming, no matter what you were doing. I think we are going to be very happy with Tussman. Thanks again! - Heather Pastorino, Young and Basile, P.C.
